About

Welcome to Hope City
At Hope City Church, we believe that hope is more than just a feeling—it’s a person, and His name is Jesus. Our church exists to glorify God by leading people into a life-changing relationship with Him. No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcome here!
Who We Are
We are a Spirit-filled, Bible-centered church with a heart for Del Rio and beyond. Our mission is to create an environment where people can Love God and Love People. Through passionate worship, powerful teaching, and a strong sense of community, we are committed to helping individuals grow in their faith and live out their God-given calling.
Our Story
Hope City Church was founded with a vision to bring transformation to lives, families, and our city through the power of the Gospel. From small beginnings to a growing and thriving community, our church has always been about people encountering Jesus, finding purpose, and stepping into their divine destiny.
Our Beliefs
The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s Word—accurate, authoritative, and applicable to daily life. The entire Scripture is verbally inspired, meaning both its ideas and words were guided by God as He moved the original writers. As God's revelation of Himself to humanity, the Bible is infallible and serves as the divinely authoritative guide for faith, belief, and living. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21, Proverbs 30:5, Romans 16:25-26)
One True God
We believe in one eternal God, the Creator of all things, who is totally loving and completely holy. He has always existed without any outside cause and is the One who redeems, saves, and rescues mankind from sin. Though He is a single Being, He has revealed Himself as three interrelated persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a concept known as the Trinity. (Isaiah 43:10, Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 43:11, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22)
Jesus Christ
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is fully God and has always existed without beginning or end. To fulfill His sacrificial mission, He became human, born of a virgin and conceived by the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless life, performed miracles through the Holy Spirit’s anointing, and died on the cross as a substitute for the sins all mankind. He was raised from the dead by God's power and is now exalted, seated at the right hand of God. (Revelation 1:8; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31, 35; Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22; Acts 2:22, 10:38; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 6:14, 15:4; Acts 1:9, 11, 2:23; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3)
The Fall
Mankind was created good and upright; for God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." However, mankind, by willful choice, ignored God's instructions and chose to engage in what they knew was wrong and evil. As a result, mankind fell from innocence and goodness and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17, 3:6; Romans 5:12-19)
Salvation
Salvation is deliverance from spiritual death and sin’s enslavement, offered freely by God to all who believe. Redemption comes only through the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, as recorded in the Gospels. Salvation is received through repentance and faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection, which brings forgiveness and new life. In response, a person experiences spiritual rebirth, renewal by the Holy Spirit, and is declared right with God, becoming an heir to eternal life. (Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11, 3:5-7)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, as the third person of the Trinity, is fully God and works today to make people aware of their need for Jesus. The Holy Spirit is given as a deposit into a believer’s life upon salvation and empowers them for service, cleanses them from their old nature, and conforms them to Christ’s image. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate experience from salvation, and brings power for victorious living, effective ministry, and a deeper commitment to God. It also provides spiritual gifts, an overflowing of the Spirit, greater reverence for God, and an intensified love for Christ and His mission. All believers are entitled to and should seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit, which was the normal experience of the early Church. (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Acts 8:12-17, 10:44-46, 11:14-16, 15:7-9; John 7:37-39; Acts 4:8; Acts 2:43; Hebrews 12:28; Acts 2:42; Mark 16:20)
The Church
We believe God has individually equipped us and gathered us as the Church to fulfill His purposes—that we (a) worship God, become a unified and mature body of believers, and seek and save that which is lost by sharing the Gospel. The Church, as described in the Bible, consists of all who place their faith in Jesus Christ. It transcends age, race, gender, and denomination, serving as the body of Christ and the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Church and has provided for its mission to make disciples who grow into the image of Christ. Every believer is an integral part of this body and its mission, with their names written in heaven. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:22, 4:11-16; Hebrews 12:23; Luke 19:10; Revelation 19:10, 22:9; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:13)
Second Coming
We believe that Jesus Christ will return as He promised and will reign on the earth, bringing peace and the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan. At His return, Christians who have died will be raised, and those still living will be caught up with them to be with the Lord forever. History will culminate with the final judgment, where those who have rejected Christ’s salvation will face eternal separation from God and will, according to His promise, look forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness will dwell forever. (Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13; Matthew 25:46; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 19:20, 20:11-15, 21-22)
